Five ways to practice
Speaking, dictation, reading, writing and grammar. Scroll, and the next task takes the page.
01Speaking
Talk with a tutor
A live voice conversation with a teacher at your level. The page says what is sent before the microphone opens, and you can end it any time.
02Dictation
Type what you hear
A passage is read in full, then sentence by sentence, and you type it as it plays. Check marks every accent, agreement and comma, with what you wrote above the correction.
03Reading
Answer exam questions
Original questions from A1 to C2, in the style of the TCF reading paper. You get an indicative score, not an official one, and every answer explained.
04Writing
Write the paper's tasks
A message, an article and an argument, each with a method, prompts and a model answer. AI feedback on a text is optional, and only that text is sent.
05Grammar
Study the rule, then use it
Short lessons with examples and exercises, checked as you go, in French, English, Arabic and German. A study plan can turn a target level and a date into today's sessions.
Questions learners ask
What is Glottago?
Glottago is a language learning app for French, English, Arabic and German. You can speak with an AI voice tutor and train dictation, reading, listening, writing and grammar for exams such as the TCF, TCF Canada, TEF Canada, DELF, IELTS and TOEFL. A study plan turns a target level and a date into today's sessions.
What does Glottago include?
Glottago has 60 dictation passages from CEFR A2 to C1, 26 courses with 110 lessons, 126 reading questions with two full tests in the TCF Canada format, 12 French listening documents and 18 writing prompts. In French, reading and listening give an indicative TCF score and an NCLC estimate. The interface is available in 11 languages.
What is a dictée?
A dictée is the French school dictation: a text is read aloud, first in full, then sentence by sentence with pauses, then in full again, and you write down exactly what you hear. Glottago uses it for French, English, Arabic and German, training the spelling, accents, agreement and punctuation that exams grade closely.
Does dictation help for the DELF or the TCF?
Neither exam has a dictation task, but both grade written accuracy in their writing sections: spelling, accents, agreement and punctuation. Regular dictation trains exactly those points by ear, so mistakes you would make in an essay show up, get explained, and stop repeating.
Is Glottago free?
Glottago is free to start, with no sign-up and no ads. Today the dictation, reading, listening, writing and grammar practice is free, and so are a few AI tutor conversations a day. Paid features are coming, starting with credits for more tutor conversations, and you buy them only if you want them.
Do I need an account?
No. You practice right away with no form. After your first dictation, an anonymous profile with a generated name saves your progress online and puts you on the leaderboards; you can turn that off on your profile. Adding an email later lets you sign in elsewhere.
Is what I type or record uploaded anywhere?
A dictation is corrected in your browser and never sent. Audio you bring stays on your device, and transcripts are made on your device too. Tutor conversations send your voice only while they run, and writing feedback sends that one text when you ask. An account stores scores and your profile, never your written words.
Which levels does it cover?
Passages in French, English, Arabic and German run from CEFR A2 to C1, from about 30 words at A2 to about 70 at C1, each read by a natural voice. Your learner level rises when you score 85% or more on two passages of a level, and the practice page shows what the next level takes.
Can I practice with my own audio?
Yes. Choose an audio file, or record a tab playing a podcast, the radio or a video, then paste its transcript or let your device make one. The dictation plays your audio, and after checking you can dismiss corrections where the transcript itself was wrong.
Pick a task and start.
A short dictation, a lesson or a conversation. Two minutes is enough for the first one.
